this one, this Francis, on this at least, is right,
but a revolution of tenderness which goes against
the zeitgeist grain to be rapacious
is the Marianas Trench of dashed conceits
the dark side says and, therefore,
the drowning place of dreams
—tenderness, the dark side says,
sucks dreams dry, renders them effete
—the light side’s take is that tenderness and love
can be fierce allies in our duel with death,
and a fulfillment of dreams
