Life in the Fast lane

“It’s all just one big lie … basically a giant Ponzi scheme.”
…………………………………………. —Bernie Madoff, Wall Street conman

a crow atop a phone pole
sits like a cocked hat, so sure,
eyeing a smear of white line lunch— a shade
who understands the nuance of traffic,
who waits patient as a tick
till a last big rig grinds by
then swoops down quick
Caaa, says he, mine!, —a feasting
junk-bond optimist who struts
and rips, always with his eye out for a killing,
avariciously alert, life bent to feasting on
the corpse of what another less fastidious
in attention has provided him to munch
