I’ve just spoken to my sister
who has boosted my world outlook
by being who she is

I come away: “there’s hope!”
which is not a rational thing
to be thinking in the light
of what is

but, and here’s the rub,
and here’s the shadow
I’ve been thinking of:

the fear there is no hope
other than fantasy
