to deconstruct the invisible requires a special math
different rules apply, the process has its own calculus
since the unseen is huge, impudent, powerful and odd
early in our ignorance spiritwind first startled us,
shattered shelters, thundered, split night with light—
unknown but real we called it God
the imperceptible has cachet because it is.
the unseen abides in the interstices of the known,
bleeds through every thing,
colors the fabric of thought,
vibrates with life
as ultraviolet works to build bone
as ultrasonic whispers in atmosphere
exciting ears of the prone,
evanescence climbs a neuron trellis in our heads,
tenacious, insisting, persuading us past reason
that we’re not alone

Have you ever read Archie Ammons’ Identity? This poem reminds me of that very strongly. Well done.
