Six Backyard Haiku

Under a flat rock
the chipmunk, scooting, is gone.
The cat’s tail twitches.

Here’s the fire, red in
the chiminea, flaming
in fall before snow.

Before time runs out
it’s important to breath free
at least once, no less.

Cool Global Warming

It’s snowblower time.
Yellow rubber suits appear;
exhaust, and white plumes.

A cat waits under
the wisteria, so cool.
A bird flies too low.

Sleep is hard to find
when, looking back, you see you’ve
never been awake.
