I’ve wondered if dawn’s like birth, dusk’s like death,
and we turn to metaphors to say,
things can be other things, nothing’s real
Do we imagine this a dream?
These are shadows, as Plato said
intending to shed some light,
but this is difficult among men,
who, like all small creatures,
by reflex, scurry to shade
So, is this a dream?
What Plato suggests is that
some life takes shelter in shadow,
prefers it —learn this first
