1. Prayers God is prone to answer
Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord the earth will keep
its compact spherical shape
(as is now) when I awake
May the wind sometimes blow,
and in Antarctica may it sometimes snow
Lord, I need your graceful assurance
that I will die someday without or
with insurance
Lord, send us a tyrant or typhoon or two
so that we may seek relief by you
2. Prayers God is apparently prone not to answer
O Lord, please make heat cold
in out and down up; make old young
but please do not make young old
Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz?
3. A prayer God simply never answers
Please bring her back. Where did she go?
