By now, does it matter?
Time and myth have done their work.
Hope anoints.
Getting to the bottom of it would be like chipping Everest
to the size of a grain of sand with a plastic chisel or
beating it with a balsa bat, or imploring Icarus
to consider the practicality of an altimeter,
……….. —by the time you got anywhere
the point would be moot., would hardly matter.
We grasp at straws, We are stubborn,
to say the least . . . so,
all that’s left is faith
which can be delicate
and often shatters.
