………………..
Into the Wind
—for George De Gregorio
You meet a man through a poetry swap
and know by the heft of his words
—how they lift and place the things
that need to be said—
that if you’d known him otherwise
you might have been friends
Then, when you hear he’s disappeared
and his book is on the table
still as the moment he left
you make what you can of
what’s been missed
—you read
and send his thoughts
loudly into the wind
