Shush, Listen

One thing homo sapiens have perfected is
conveniently refusing to make the
essential connection between Me and
                                                everything else.

It’s a deeply existential mistake which
we’ve been determined to make
for centuries, and now we face
the effects of its inevitable tsunami
—and we thought Fukushima was bad.

We are absolutely no more than a cog
in the vast machine of Is.
Bees are another;
break one cog and expect to hear lethal
grinding sounds that even the best
mechanic may not be able to fix.

Shush, listen, you can
                                          hear it now.
