Of Antelopes, Stones and Newton’s Delight

.
antelopes jump and stones fall.
but by my sights an anteloping
across a yellow prairie kissed by light
sailing over breeze-skimmed grass
wingless …….. front legs underfolded
rear stretched back in flight,
legs set to be sprung against gravity again
as hooves touch ground
as adrenalin pumps

……………………….……. she alights
still clear of the cheetah
that has her only in its sight

antelope has a lyrical edge over
rock tumbling down from height
in Newton’s delight, though
the end of animal and stone
may be close, may be closer,
close as night
